Greek Creations was founded after a need was felt in the market for easier ways to buy Greek merchandise. The only way to purchase Greek merchandise up to 1995 was via a hosted Greek store on larger campus’ or a handful of companies which were selling bulk group orders through direct mail catalogues. Greek Creations quickly became popular by word of mouth and is now an exclusive online retailer with an average of 45,000 visitors per month. Wade Lewis, President and founder of Greek Creations, was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. He graduated from the University of Nebraska with degrees in Finance and Banking in 1993. In fact, he states “It was the love of my College Fraternity experience that formed the foundation for my life’s work.” This passion together with his entrepreneurial spirit made him start up his own company specialising in Greek custom apparel, gifts and party favors. If you have been following our blog, you know that this is where we drop the latest information on what we’ve been up to and what new stuff we will be offering. Because our competitors imitate and follow what we do so closely, we have to keep many of our big projects under wraps. But nonetheless, a while back, you’ll recall that we did a survey. One of the questions asked was “Which new items and services would you like to see us offer?” The overwhelming response to this question was for the ability to purchase screen printed Greek t-shirt designs individually.

We get it. We really do. So we knew that this was something that we had to make happen. We asked our designers to create some of the funnest and most creative t-shirt design templates seen in Greek industry. We wanted to make something that our customers would love and that would be exclusively made by us. Something that was unique and represented what we do best. SCREEN PRINTING DESIGNS! We knew that we wanted to offer contemporary graphic designs as well as designs that are considered traditional to the college and Greek market. Rather than combine these two ideas, we decided to separate them into two themes. The new edgy designs make up our “Signature Series” while the classic types of designs belong to our “Traditional Series”.

So without further ado, let me introduce you to our “Signature Series Graphic Tees”! While these designs are based off of Greek Gods and Goddesses, they are not traditional in any sense. Distress, erode and be loud are the common themes and feelings of these shirts. Below are samples of “Hercules”, “Zeus”, “Athena” and “Artemis”. These are only 4 samples of the new 16 “Signature Series” designs that we will be offering. All designs can be customized with your group name or Greek letters. Next up is our “Traditional Series Graphic Tees”! This section is tried and true. We took our best selling designs and made them individually purchasable. Like our “Signature Series”, all designs are customizable for your group, but we don’t stop there. You also get to choose the color of the art itself! If you have ordered Glassware from us in the past, you know that all items in our Formal & Party Glassware section found here carry minimum quantities of 12 pieces or more. While this works great for orders for an entire group, it isn’t necessarily ideal if you just want a couple as a gift or one for yourself.

We asked about this in our previous survey, and sure enough one of the things customers wanted were the individual Glassware items. We began working with manufacturers to find a way to make it happen. But not only that, to do it inexpensively as possible.

We found the solution and are happy to roll out these sweet new glassware items. You can see them here. We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how low cost we were able to price them. It’s borderline ridiculous. Don’t let the price fool you though, the glassware is the same quality as our bulk glassware pieces. Each item comes embellished with a gorgeous full color crest and they are also dishwater safe.

We are so excited! We are close to announcing the next big thing at Greek Creations. Seriously, this is going to change everything!

These shirts are just the beginning. We’re really excited to let you know what we’re working on. Consider these shirts to be the appetizers. I’ll leave the big stuff for the future blog, kudos again to everyone for their support and inspiration.

We’ve been getting kudos for some of the tips from our blogs, but have been getting requests for more info about ordering Sewn On Lettered clothes. Besides Paddles, Sewn On Letters is our bread and butter and arguably what we do best.

There are a lot of directions one could go about giving information about the ordering process. I think the best approach would be to go through each drop down and provide necessary info. The following example will be taken from our most popular lettered t-shirt found here.

1. Garment Size
Pretty simple. Our garments are generally normal sizes, but feel free to read the description of the product to see if the sizing and fit of garment should be taken into account (like flex fit, ladies fit, juniors fit, etc.).

2. Garment Color
Of course you want to have the perfect shirt color. This is where you select it. If you want to see samples of apparel colors, be sure to click the “View Garment Colors” button below the item description. (click on sample below for larger image)

3. Greek Letters 1,2 and 3
Simple as well. For FIJI, Acacia and Farmhouse members, you are at the top of the list, and if I may add, we were pretty much the first Greek store to offer Sewn On Letters for your groups. As well as being the first to offer sewn on letters for Triangle Fraternity. Triangle members, you can see your shirt here.

4. Greek Letter Style
Besides quality and our unique connected letters, this is what really separates us from our competitors. We are the first and only Greek store that allows you to choose from 4 different fonts for your letters! This is where you can really define the style of your shirt. See examples of each font below the item description. We also have a handy button (see below) that will take you there if you don’t feel like scrolling down.

5. Pick (Foreground) Fabric
Ah yes. This is where the fun really starts! This is where you will enter your Foreground Fabric Number. In order to get this number, you have to visit the Foreground & Background Fabrics Guide. The button for this sits below the product image. (click on sample below for larger image)

In the guide there are over 500 fabrics to choose from. Upon opening, you will be selecting a foreground fabric. To begin choosing a background fabric, simply click the “View Background Fabrics” button. Feel free to switch back and forth between foreground and background fabrics by clicking between buttons. This tool is simply for you to get an idea of what your foreground and background fabrics will look like together.

Once fabrics are selected, you can take the corresponding numbers/names and select them from the drop down. (click on sample below for larger image)

After your Foreground fabric is chosen in the drop down, just do the same for your Background Fabric.

6. Production Time
This is pretty self explanatory. Normal service is generally 2 weeks plus shipping time and Rush service is 1 week plus shipping time.

As far as design suggestions:

1. Some of the neatest shirts we see is when the foreground fabric contains colors of the main garment, followed by lighter background fabric.

2. Choosing a background fabric that is the same or similar color to the garment makes the background fabric very hard to see (black on black for example) and shouldn’t be done unless intentional.

3. Solid foreground fabrics make for a classic looking shirt. This is what we see most Fraternities choose.

4. Colors you see on your screen may vary from the actual color, as we have no control over your monitor settings. So when trying to match colors with garment or each other, if you are not sure they will match, then play it safe and choose an alternate garment or foreground color you will like.

So hopefully this will clear up any questions you may have about creating a garment with Sewn On Letters. Remember that we are here to help you with any questions you may have about design or creating a sewn on letter garment.

Because we’re offering a Free 22″ Branded Paddle on our Facebook page We thought it would be neat to revisit blank paddles and what you can do with them. First we have a ton of decorations for you to choose from. Greek letters, Crests, Phrases and a ton more of stuff. We’ve seen some neat paddles since we’ve started offering a larger selection of decorations. It really does take some planning and an idea of what you want, but most blank paddles turn out looking really sweet!

More and more customers are going with the largest version of each decoration piece. We have been seeing the oak backed versions selling very well. The larger oak backed version seem to fit all paddles better and provide more coverage. The blank paddles that look the best are generally ones that are filled in without any huge gaping spaces. So when you are making a paddle, be sure to load up on decorations!

We do have some new plans for our paddle section which involves YOU! This new product will integrate with everything else we have done as well as our social networking. It’s really exciting, but as always, it’s under wraps. Do expect to see new mascots in the near future. There are many more that we plan to add.
